The Party and the State of Vietnam have created forums for citizens—including the Vietnamese community abroad—to contribute their opinions on important national matters. This is a sound policy that clearly reflects a spirit of democracy, openness, and a willingness to listen to practical insights, while harnessing the intellectual strength of the entire nation. This is the shared view of Vietnamese entrepreneurs and intellectuals living and working in Laos, expressed in interviews with Vietnam News Agency (VNA) correspondents in Vientiane ahead of the New Year 2026, a year marked by many significant national events.

As a businesswoman investing and operating in Laos, Ms. Huong believes that broad-based consultation not only helps Party and State policies better reflect reality, but also creates opportunities for overseas Vietnamese to express their aspirations and contribute valuable experience gained from living and working abroad. This also demonstrates the consistent policy of the Party and State in recognizing overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the nation and an important resource for national construction and development.

For Ms. Huong, such attention and openness strengthen trust and motivation among Vietnamese living abroad, encouraging them to remain connected with and contribute to their homeland. She affirmed her readiness to participate in policy discussions, share management experience, transfer technology, and support human resource training, especially for younger generations.

As a Vietnamese entrepreneur in Laos, Ms. Huong expressed her desire to contribute to the country’s development through practical and long-term efforts. She and other Vietnamese businesses continuously strive to invest and operate effectively, strictly comply with local laws, and build a reputable and professional image for Vietnamese enterprises—thereby enhancing the brand and position of Vietnamese businesses in the regional market.

In addition, she actively participates in social welfare activities in the host country, supporting communities affected by natural disasters, contributing to infrastructure development, and promoting socio-economic progress in Laos. At the same time, she strongly engages in and mobilizes activities within the Vietnamese community to support the homeland, especially during times of hardship such as natural disasters and floods. With the sense of responsibility of an overseas Vietnamese, she believes that every sincere contribution from herself and the Vietnamese community in Laos not only supports Vietnam’s sustainable development but also further strengthens the special Vietnam–Laos relationship.

Sharing similar views, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Chi, Vice Principal of Nguyen Du Laos–Vietnam Bilingual School in Vientiane, also welcomed the Party and State’s increasing efforts to expand forums for public participation, including contributions from overseas Vietnamese on major national issues.

According to her, this policy vividly reflects democratic values and demonstrates strategic vision—appreciating and harnessing the collective intelligence of the entire nation, both at home and abroad. She emphasized that this carries special significance, as it affirms that even while living far from the homeland, she and fellow Vietnamese are still recognized, valued, and given opportunities to contribute to national development.

This policy clearly reflects the consistent viewpoint of the Party and State: the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation and an important resource in terms of intellect, experience, and culture.

With the sentiment of someone living far from home, Ms. Lan Chi believes that every contribution, no matter how small, if driven by dedication and responsibility, will help build a more developed, integrated, and culturally rich Vietnam in the future. She is also deeply aware of her responsibility at Nguyen Du Laos–Vietnam Bilingual School—not only in managing educational activities but also in fostering and strengthening the great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Through curricular and extracurricular activities—such as celebrations of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and traditional holidays of both countries—the school actively promotes the culture, people, and nations of Vietnam and Laos in a vivid and practical way, helping students better understand and appreciate their heritage while spreading a positive image of Vietnam to Lao friends and the international community.
